URGENT REQUEST!
Families, I must confess to you my brothers and sisters that I have forgotten something critically important to your children receiving their First Holy Communion! I MUST have their Baptism Certificates before they can receive the Sacrament. If you have not turned in a baptism certificate I need you to either scan it (or take a picture of it) and email it to me (jharrington@standrewrcc.org) OR bring it with you to your F3 Session next week. If you don't have a copy in your records, we MUST request one from the child's church of baptism and must do that AS SOON AS POSSIBLE to receive it in time. I sincerely apologize for not notifying you sooner of this requirement; to be honest I've never had to remember this item before because Miss Jodi would handle it. I am sincerely sorry if this causes stress or poses challenges. If getting a certificate is difficult, contact me (jharrington@standrewrcc.org) and I'll assist as best I can.

REMINDER: This year we will be offering First Holy Communion on the tongue by intinction (meaning that the Blessed Sacrament - the host - will be dipped into the Precious Blood - the chalice - and then offered to your child who will be kneeling on a kneeler in front of the priest. First Reconciliation Make Up
Si su hijo se perdió nuestra celebración comunitaria del Sacramento de la Reconciliación el primer sábado de febrero, quería informarle cómo su hijo puede recibir ese Sacramento.

INFORMACIÓN
Los dos tiempos enumerados anteriormente son oportunidades normales de reconciliación parroquial, lo que significa que otros feligreses harán fila para confesarse con un sacerdote. Blessed At Home Book Pick Up Info
If you're doing Blessed at Home, you should have completed the Blessed First Reconciliation book, or nearly so. The Online Turn In links are now live for Lessons 5 and 6.
You now need to pick up the Blessed First Communion book. Book Pick Up will be from the Faith Formation Office (in the parish office building with its own entrance facing the parking lot, the middle door with the window, accessed by pushing the large silver camera doorbell) and will be held on Wednesday, Feb 23, 1:00 - 5:00 pm OR on Thursday, Feb 24, 4:00 - 8:00pm. Stop by anytime during those hours to receive your book.
You'll need to complete Lessons 1 & 2 as soon as you're able. The link to Online Turn Ins will be live by the time you pick up the book. If you're watching the videos more than using the books, you can continue with them (Season 7 & 8 are First Communion Lessons 1 & 2) and complete the lessons even before you receive your book.

First Reconciliation Practice: (TOMORROW!) Thursday, Feb 3, 6pm in Church
For families who have completed all the Reconciliation Lessons (either by attending the in-person gatherings or by completing the online Turn Ins), practice for your child's first confession will be Thursday, Feb 3, in Church at 6pm. Mr. H. will go through the prayer service and allow each child to sit with a catechist and 'practice' their confession (with silly fake sins). Please make every effort to attend. There is plenty of room in the church for all to be distanced.
FIRST RECONCILIATION: Saturday, Feb 5, 10:30am in Church
For families who have completed all the Reconciliation Lessons, your child's first confession will take place on Saturday, Feb 5, at 10:30am in Church with a penance service followed by individual confessions with our parish priests.
If you cannot attend on Saturday - No Problem! Every year many families can't make it. In March and April, during Lent, Mr. H. will attend certain parish reconciliation times so you can bring your child to him. He will have "cheat sheets" (no memorizing), answer any questions, and even introduce the child to the priest so he knows that it's a First Reconciliation. More information will be sent in March.

Blessed In-Person vs. Blessed at Home
We had our first In-Person Blessed Gathering on Sunday, November 14 according the calendar offered below and posted online here. While many families attended, far fewer than expected did so! Given the lack of attendance, allow me to clarify a few things:
- we want families to either do Blessed In-Person OR Blessed at Home, making a commitment to one or the other, not mixing and matching month to month
- unless you specifically tell me otherwise, the default registration is into Blessed In-Person
- thus, if you want to do Blessed at Home, you must let me know so I can add you to that list
- also, if you do not tell me you want to do Blessed at Home, you will be marked absent if you do not come to the In-Person Gathering
- if you have more than one absence from the gatherings, we will discuss postponing the reception of Sacraments
- finally, to be very honest and perhaps help you make your decision: Blessed at Home is a lot more work than Blessed In-Person; why? Because In-Person Gatherings...
- only happen once a month so must do two lessons at a time
- have a limited amount of time to cover a great deal of material, so we condense and don't look at everything
- involve a far simpler Turn In given the restrictions above

First In-Person Gathering Make Up Work
For the many families that missed our first In-Person Gathering, they will need to make up Session 1 and Session 2 of the First Reconciliation program. If you are in Blessed In-Person (which are all the families unless you request otherwise (before Dec 12 per To-Do Item #1) then for this month only you need to do the lessons on your own and use the Blessed at Home online Turn Ins per the instructions below (November Lessons Online).
For everyone who didn't attend the first In-Person Gathering, you need the book!
Book Pick Up Information
Mr. H. will be available in the Faith Formation Office (in the Parish Office building with its own dark brown door facing the parking lot in the middle of the building) at these times:
- Thanksgiving Day: 10 am - 12 pm
- Sunday, Nov 28: 3 - 5 pm
NOTE: If you're unable to make it on Thanksgiving but want to do the lessons during the break, you can simply watch the videos and do the online turn ins (per instructions below).

Bendecido en Persona vs Bendecido en Casa
Tuvimos nuestra primera reunión de bendecido en persona el domingo 14 de noviembre de acuerdo con el calendario que se ofrece a continuación y publicado en línea aquí. Si bien asistieron muchas familias, ¡asistieron muchas menos de las esperadas! Ante la falta de asistencia, permítanme aclarar algunas cosas:
- Queremos que las familias hagan Blessed In-Person O Blessed at Home, comprometiéndose con uno u otro, sin mezclar y combinar mes a mes.
- a menos que me diga específicamente lo contrario, el registro predeterminado es en Blessed In-Person

First Holy Communion Preparation
As you were told when you registered last year, our bishop's rule states that all Sacramental Preparation for children must be a two year process. During both years, the children are expected to be enrolled in a foundational catechesis program (a basics of Catholicism faith formation program). Here at St. Andrew, that means F3 (Family Faith Formation). In the second year, then, immediate preparation (the lessons specific to the Sacraments - First Reconciliation/Confession and then First Communion) are added in addition to the foundational program. Here at St. Andrew, we call that immediate preparation program Blessed, after the curriculum we use. (Click here to learn more about Blessed.) Therefore, in your second year, every family is expected to be in both F3 and Blessed for your child to receive the Sacraments in the spring.

We run Blessed Lessons once a month from November through April on Sunday mornings at 10:15 - 11:45 am in the Parish Hall on the following dates:

The lesson time allows families to attend either the 9:00am Mass in English and then go to class or to go to class and then go to the Noon Mass in Spanish, so all families can attend Sunday Mass.

If you prefer not to attend the classes in person but want to complete the Blessed lessons at home as a family, please contact Jerry Harrington (jharrington@standrewrcc.org).
Blessed Fee Payment
The Blessed Program fee is $20 per child for the program year. You can pay that fee here. Please do so as soon as possible.

Preparación de la Primera Comunión
Como le dijeron cuando se registró el año pasado, la regla de nuestro obispo establece que toda la preparación sacramental de los niños debe ser un proceso de dos años.
