Meets weekly to praise God through song, word and scripture. They strive for continuous personal conversion to Jesus through the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, who is our teacher and counselor. They are committed to daily prayer and if possible daily participation at Mass to assist us in our everyday life. They try to follow St. Paul's advice to Timothy in scripture where he says, "Stir into flame the gift of God that was given to you..." The Hispanic Prayer Group's main objectives are thanking and praising God in community, bringing new people to Jesus and service to the Church, and teaching them how to live the Christian Life in obedience to the Church. They do this through intercessory prayer, visits to the sick, and support for one another spiritually, mentally, materially. The Legion of Mary is an international organization with three facets to their mission: spiritual, practical, and apostolic. Members strive to bring the Holy Spirit to others. Members work in pairs to serve the parish while sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. It is open to all practicing Catholic men and women. Meetings are held regularly. This community is a lay branch of the Carmelite Order. The purpose is spiritual enrichment through teachings, prayer, and contemplation. Lay Carmelites, through their promises or vows, become associated with the Carmelite Order and share in the spiritual benefits of the Order. The Order follows the teaching of the Holy Bible, the Holy Father, and the lives of the Carmelite Saints in order to live the Gospel message and to bring Christ to others through their lives. Anyone 17 years and older and in good standing with the Catholic Church is welcome.
St. Andrew has two Carmelite Chapters, one meets the first Sunday of each month from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM, and the second usually meets the second Tuesday of each month with 9:00 AM Mass and meeting following in the parish hall. Formerly called the Third Order of St. Francis, the Secular Franciscan Order was founded by St. Francis of Assisi over 800 years ago and is an international religious institution of the Catholic Church. Each fraternity meets in local groups made up of Catholics who profess a life-long commitment to living a Gospel-based life following the Rule of St. Francis Assisi for lay people. At present, there are about 30 Secular Franciscan Fraternities in the Florida region. All are welcome to join us for prayer, study, sharing and fellowship on the third Sunday of every month in the Parish House at 1:00 PM. We invite you to join us.
