The Church teaches that the family is the domestic church (CCC1656) and that "parents are the principal and first educators of their children."
When we reflect on these words, we come to appreciate what a privilege and responsibility we as parents have been given.
Faith Formation ministry at St. Andrew serves our parish by walking hand-in-hand with parents and children on their spiritual journey.
Adults who are seeking sacraments for themselves, please refer to the RCIA program.
As baptized Catholic Christians, the celebration of the Eucharist is the most important hour during our entire week. Therefore, we presume all children in Faith Formation are participating in weekly, Sunday Eucharist with their families. Our Catechetical team is comprised of parish staff and parish trained volunteers. We strive to assist families in the awareness and appreciation of their spiritual journey as we all grow in friendship with Jesus Christ. We are guided by Pope John Paul's words, "You will come to know Him (Christ) truly, and intimately, only through prayer." We appreciate the Eucharist as our greatest prayer.

Faith Formation presents a variety of opportunities for gathering and catechesis to help enrich our families' weekly celebration of Sunday Eucharist. Faith Formation gatherings are available for young Catholic Christians who are in grades one through twelve in public school. Children and teens are enrolled in Faith Formation sessions not only in order to prepare for the Sacraments of First Eucharist (Communion) and Confirmation, but also for their continual spiritual development. We gather in weekly classes, weekend retreats, Sunday Family Gatherings, family prayer services, and parental spiritual enrichment meetings. (See the "Weekly Class Schedule" link for details.)
The Diocese of Venice requires that the preparation for the Sacraments of First Eucharist (Communion) and Confirmation be two years when instruction is given in English.
