Reminder to our parents,

Faith Formation strives to assist families in helping their children grow in friendship with Jesus. We acknowledge that, for us Catholic Christians, the Celebration of the Eucharist is the most important hour during our entire week. Therefore, we presume all children in Faith Formation are participating in weekly, Sunday Eucharist, with their family. A commitment to Sunday Eucharist is imperative for famillies with members in preparation for First Communion and/or Confirmation. The Diocese of Venice requires that the preparation for the Sacraments of First Communion and Confirmation be two years when instruction is given in English. Example:

1) - At Saint Andrew, First Eucharist (Communion) preparation is a two year process. During the latter part of the second year, immediate preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation (Penance) and Eucharist (Communion) will take place. Children will Celebrate First Eucharist at the culmination of the second year.

2) - Recently, Bishop Dewane informated all his pastors that "after thoughtful and prayerful consideration as well as extensive consulation..." he has decided to make a change concerning the administration of Confirmation. Bishop Dewane states:

Preparation for the reception of Confirmation will be a two year process, beginning in grade 9, culmination in the reception of the sacrament at the end of grade 10...This will be the policy for all Parishes, Chaples, and Missions in the Diocese of Venice and is keeping with the practices of the other six dioceses throughout the province.

3) - Those students entering grade 8 or grade 9 in the fall of 2009 will be eligible to register in the fall for the second year of Confirmation preparation (CF2) if this teen has:
